 Banded Shades are modern and versatile window treatments that can transform any room. Banded shades, also referred to as dual shades or zebra shades, combine solid and sheer horizontal bands to form a single shade that gives you precise light control. When aligned, solid bands seamlessly block natural light and ensure privacy; when shifted, the sheer bands transition to diffuse light and reveal the view. Banded Shades allow you to control the light, privacy, and style in your room with ease.

Often times, it's hard to imagine how Banded Shades actually operate and how they look when opened or closed, so to help, here's a slider that lets you see the shades in their opened and closed positions. The shades can also fully retract inside of their cassette at the top of the window when you want a full view outside.

  • What fabric and color options are available for Banded Shades?

    With over 100 fabrics to choose from, there is sure to be color you're looking for! We have two types of fabrics to choose from, depending on the solution you're going for. 


    1. Light Filtering: The privacy bands allow light to softly glow through the fabric, offering comfortable light glow during the day, and full privacy at night. If you want to see out, you just adjust the bands so you can see through the sheer bands and enjoy the view to the outdoors. 


    2. Light Dimming: The bands are made of thick, light dimming fabric so light can't bleed or glow through the face of the bands. This allows better light control for sleeping areas. While not a blackout product, these do reduce harsh light significantly and make a space more cozy for resting.


    Our Design Specialists will help you with color and texture selection as a part of your free in-home consultation. We bring the swatches and samples to your home so you can see the colors in your lighting and in your space. 

  • What are the different operating systems available for Banded Shades?

    Our Banded Shades have four operating systems to choose from:


    -Chain Loop

    -Cordless (Child Safe)

    -PowerWand (Child Safe)

    -Motorized / Automated (Child Safe)


    Our Design Specialists will help you determine the proper operating system for your windows. 

  • How long does it take to get Banded Shades installed?

    Our typical lead time for Banded Shades is between 4 to 6 weeks from order to final installation. Our professional installers will make quick work of installing your new shades and most of our projects are completed within one installation day. Your Design Specialist will give you the most current estimated dates at the time you place your order. 

  • How durable are Solar Shield’s Banded Shades?

    All of our Banded Shades are designed for longevity and reliable performance in your windows. Our shades can withstand normal household wear and tear, no problem! However, we also offer our No Questions Asked Gurantee to help protect your investment and give you peace of mind that your shades will last for years to come. 

  • Do you offer transferable warranties on the custom shades for windows if I move to a new location?

    Yes, our custom shades come with transferable warranties. If you move, the warranty continues, offering peace of mind and lasting protection for your window treatments.
